Happy Birthday?

One more year!
One more fire to put out on that birthday candle!

Today Yesterday marked the second anniversary of FireStarter.
On the same day last year, we announced FireStarter 1.5.

We planned to rework FireStarter on Unreal Engine 5 and push it a bit further than what we accomplished on Unity.

But unfortunately,  my friend, at the heart of the technical part of this project was - and is still not - the ability to work on this project for some personal reason, I, Shodanel, began working on the foundation of this new project alone. I did my best at taking care of the design, programmation, UI, art,... but never without the precious advice of my friend.

It didn't take long for me to realize that I couldn't keep working like this. And it's just recently that we both decided it was time to freeze the project and wait for a better time to get back to it together.

This decision has been taken a few months ago now and I already started another personal project on my own last month, but we wanted to tell you the news on this very special day.

Fortunately, nothing is lost! We're not giving up entirely on this project. It will remain preciously preserved in our archives.
Also, it was an awesome experience to explore Unreal Engine 5, adapt a Unity game to this other game engine, torture my mind with math problems, and set up complex data systems... I can tell for sure that this knowledge we'll be useful for other projects!

In the meantime,  I personally wish my dear friend a good recovery. So that maybe someday, when we see our planet burning in the middle of winter, we may want to get back to this project of wildfire prevention and lead it to success.

Take care of yourself, the people you love, and above all of nature. Thank you, everyone, for your support!

P.S. Ironically, the development stopped when I was working on that rain and humidity feature that was supposed to slow down and kill the fire. But this feature also included lightnings, that could start new fires!)
